Gravity & Light

‘Bandaged Earth’ - Eveline Kotai

Ashes of colourful birds spread

Scattered, undimmed in an

Alabaster landscape

Cratered like the moon.

Unnatural lines of symmetry

Divide with fruitless precision

Digestible lumps of sand

Or dirt, or spoil. Take your pick.

Since long before memory

When silence and stillness gave

This rainbow land privilege

Only gravity is left holding the light.

Not buried enough,

Not deep enough.
